My two cents on protein....

We all need it, but how much, exactly? We have all heard the traditional answer, 1 gram per pound of body weight, right? Wrong the formula is actually closer to .75 grams per KG (kilogram) of body weight. An active person weighing 180lbs (~83 kg) would have a protein requirement between 60-70grams. Like the other macro-nutrients, carbohydrates, and fats, protein has calories (4 cal/gram) and if you exceed your caloric requirement like anything else, it goes to storage (turns to fat). So keep that in mind when planning out your dietary game plan. In closing, protein is vital tool to use in the battle against fat but just remember this, more is not always better.
